  • In Ontario, chiropodists and podiatrists are both foot specialists who treat similar conditions, but there are some differences. Podiatrists typically have a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) degree and can perform bone surgeries, while chiropodists are trained in Canada or the UK and can perform soft-tissue surgeries but not bone-related procedures. Podiatrists licensed before 1993 in Ontario can also formally diagnose foot conditions, whereas chiropodists cannot. Both are regulated by the College of Chiropodists of Ontario and provide comprehensive foot care, including custom orthotics, diabetic foot care, and more.
